FA Cup injury jinx strikes again

Kidsgrove completed a comfortable 4-0 replay victory to progress into the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, but the victory was marred by a serious injury to Geoff McGaw who appears to have broken two bones in his leg. The bad news came almost exactly a year to the day after Jordan White's season-ending ligament injury sustained against AFC Wulfrunians at the same stage at the competition. We wish Geoff all the best for his recovery.

The game was settled by two Dave Walker goals along with strikes from Nick Ward and Tim Sanders. With Steve Inithar on holiday, Kidsgrove fielded Dave Harper in goal and he responded by keeping a clean sheet meaning that Athletic have still not conceded a goal this season. The reward for winning is prize money of £1,500 and a home tie against Chasetown on Saturday 11th September.
